When I was growing up the kitchen was always the heart of the home. It was basically fitted with a large arga, belfast style sink and a huge wooden table in the centre of the room – this would be used for everyday eating and, of course, food preparation. Kitchens these days, especially in modern homes, are tiny little things with no character and definitely no room for the huge family kitchen table.
If there is one thing I aspire to have its a home with a lovely old fashioned kitchen which I can fill with kitchen furniture. I spend days window shopping with desirious eyes but I am still stuck in my small house with a kitchen barely big enough to swing a cat! Sure it looks fancy and modern – but really how can you be expected to be a food goddess when you run out of surface space when cooking for just two! Christmas and other family gatherings would be a disaster right now!
Wouldn´t you just love that big kitchen? or are you one of those lucky individuals who would love to rub my nose in it?
I’m with you, I would just love a big kitchen. My kitchen is very small and I dream of having a kitchen big enough for a big table – just like the picture! Big kitchens are great for socialising in so you can actually chat with your family while your cooking but with my small kitchen nobody wants to stand around and chat lol. Oh well we can dream!
