Apologies for the lack of updates recently and, most especially, the lack of new recipes. I have had very little time for experimenting in the kitchen as a result of a recent house move and being involved in the opening of a new tapas Bar in Nerja. The latter is the fruition of a dream of a close friend of mine who, having worked for twenty years in the kitchens of other extremely successful restaurants in Spain, has finally decided to branch out and open one herself. Its certainly a risky enterprise most especially in the present financial climate.
She is opening on a very tight budget and so decided to call in all her friends with helping out with creating budget solutions for everything from decorations to staff uniforms. My responsbility has been sourcing good uniforms and customising them – the front of all her uniforms, be they kitchen or waiting staff, has her bar logo screen printed on – and, to avoid confusion, we have decided to place name labels of the staff member on the interior. We decided not to challenge our poor sewing skills and opted instead to get some iron on labels. The result is actually quite smart!
Needless to say with the move completed and the bar due to open any day now I will soon be able to return to experimenting in my own kitchen – and hopefully steal an idea or two off Isabella in return for my hard ironing labour! The internet has not yet been installed at the new flat but I am expecting it to be soon – my telephone provider has just called by to start the process so the telephone at least will be any day now – the internet, well, going by past record that could be anything from a few days to a few weeks! Good job I have my dongle!
Stay tuned for further updates. I do already have some recipes I need to try out before posting – lovely summery dishes.
What a lovely blog, I’m glad I have found you as you have some amazing food posts / recipes that I will definitely be trying. Best of luck to your friend with the tapas bar, very brave to launch a business in the present environment.
