I´ve experimented a great deal over the last week in order to create a menu for a True Blood Season 4 celebration party. Some of these dishes were a success and made it online – others were, well, lets just say if I had tried serving them to a house full of guests I might well have found myself served up for dinner in their place…
Some of the blood gelato ideas I had were failures on a massive level. In the end I resorted to sorbets which, rather sadly, dont really have the wonderful appearance of the Blood Gelato served at Talbot´s table. The Polish Beetroot Soup however is, if I have to say so myself, a wonderous success. Its tastes absolutely delightful. We´ve left off the rose petals but you are perfectly at liberty to utilise them for true authenticity if you wish (assuming you prepared your beetroot ferment five days ago that is…)
So…
Talbot served Carbonated Blood – We are serving Sparkling Blood (aka Strawberry Champagne) – Except its not champagne, its sparkling cava because I believe in buying local. It tastes fabulous though!
Following on Talbot served Blood Bisque. I didnt fancy that so we are having Polish Beetroot Soup with uszka.
The Blood Gelata served next was a little harder to replicate than I had hoped. I couldnt get the depth of colour with Gelato unless I used red food colouring in such huge amounts we would have had some interesting experiences over the forthcoming week… Instead we opted for Sorbets. We have a choice ready – Blood Berry Sorbet and Sour Cherry Sorbet
We´ve even got Fried Pickles and Blood Shots (come on, I am sure Talbot would simple love Blood Shots…).
There you have it, the results of my endeavours to create recipes truly worthy of any True Blood party… either because they mimic the menu of Talbot or because they are based on Louisiana cuisine. What are you all planning for tonight? Any other ideas for my next attempt?
