Tea Review: Twinings Green Tea

new_green_teas_header_ethical_state

One of my favourite tipples during the course of the day is tea - usually herbal or fruit tea to sooth my jagged nerves. Most of my favourite teas, I have to admit, do indeed come from Twinings, most notably the Camomile and Limeflowers, which is an absolute delight. I was therefore delighted when I was approached by Twinings to give their Green Teas a try as I havent had chance to get around to trying their range yet. I admit I was a little sceptical about Green Tea. I did try it many years … [Read more...]

Review: Hot Chocolate from Whittard Chelsea

278432

I was recently given the opportunity to sample the superb range of hot chocolates from Whittard´s and to say I was impressed by the sheer range available was but an understatement. I am, I admit, a very committed chocoholic. In fact I believe my relationship with chocolate is the most enduring (and dare I say enjoyable) relationship I have ever had. I jest not (well, maybe a little...) Either way I have sampled Hot Chocolates from most of the leading firms, but this has to be the longest … [Read more...]

Review: Extra Thick Easter Eggs from Hotel Chocolat

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I am not religious by any stretch of the imagination but I do enjoy a celebration which encourages the consumption of mass amounts of chocolate such as, just for an example, Easter. For me the chocolate always tastes infinitely nicer than at any other time. Up until discovering Hotel Chocolat a year or so ago I must admit my favourite Easter Eggs usually came from Thorntons. But this weekend changed all that when I got to try the extra thick Easter Eggs from Hotel Chocolat - the one I got to try … [Read more...]

Jennifer Saunders Choccy Philly rant & my review…

philadelphia

I have to admit when I first heard of the New Cadburys Philadelphia I was a little bit sceptical. Unlike some reviews I have read lately I have no issues at all with chocolate on bread - Hello, Nutella anyone? One of the most delightful spreads ever to be granted to womankind. But I digress. I was sceptical because I wasnt entirely confident in an amalgamation between sweet Cadburys chocolate and Philadelphia. Like Jennifer Saunders I could be heard muttering dont me silly at my screen. But I … [Read more...]

Hotel Chocolat: Chocolate Heart Review – Sure to open any heart!

Chocolate-Heart-IMG300242m

If you want a really special but affordable gift this Valentines then I cannot recommend better than Hotel Chocolat´s "Open your Heart to me" - not only it is a feast for the eyes but, as I have come to expect from Hotel Chocolat, it is a taste experience. Scrummy yummy! I adored the box I received at Christmas but I am afraid they have really surpassed themselves with this delicious treat - its design reminding me strongly of an Easter Egg. The heart itself is made of pure 40% milk chocolate, … [Read more...]

Review: The Cookiepedia by Tara Striano

thecookiepedia

The Cookiepedia - Mixing, Baking and Reinventing the classics. The first thing you notice when you received your copy of The Cookiepedia is its novel design, in the form of a small spiral binding, which is both cute and practical. Its design certainly makes it stand out from the crowd of recipe books I have received lately - that and the wonderful mouthwateringly good photography that is! All in all it was a fun read - its written in a casual style and contains some of the most wonderful … [Read more...]

Mermaid Bakeware makes Jam Roly Poly a doddle…

jamrolypoly

I was recently approached to review a few items from Mermaid Cookware, a company well known for providing superb baking and cookware items made from Hard Anodised Aluminium. Naturally I was delighted because, in order to conduct the review, I would naturally receive some of their items free! I expected an item or two - maybe a roasting tin but never expected such a wonderful collection of cake tins, pie tins and a pudding sleeve! The latter being something I had never heard of until today. The … [Read more...]

Review: Cupcakes & Muffins by Ann Nicol

15401675_500x500_1

I was approached sometime ago to take a look at Ann Nicol´s new book "Cupcakes & Muffins". As someone who takes far too much delight in these little treats but whose own recipe range is, shall we say, a little limited I was more than delighted. The author, Ann Nicol, is a expert on cake baking and decorating - and has written for a wide range of publications (BBC Good Food, Women's Weekly and Home and Freezer Digest being just a few). The book is an absolutely wonderful collection of … [Read more...]
