I have recently been exploring website Baking Mad and, driven by some of the great easy to follow recipes on there decided to give one of them a try with a view to reviewing the site in general. As I adore Cupcakes I decided to follow the how to make cupcakes video – since I am a Yorkshire lass by birth I decided to decorate the resulting cupcakes with the Yorkshire Flag. I´m not a master decorator so all my Yorkshire Rose emblems came out a little squiffy! Sadly they were so good they never stood any chance of reaching the day in question (1st August) but it gives me a jolly good reason to make a new batch!
One of the great things about Baking Mad is the ease of use – it provides good quality video tutorials on a wide range of recipes. If you love to bake or are just starting to experiment in baking this site is ideal. There are a wide range of video and written tutorials – all of which follow the same easy to follow format. Personally I would have liked to see an accompanying ingredients list and instructions with the video itself but a little searching revealed all the ingredients you needed in order to replicate the recipe. All in all I was impressed with the simple approach, and the good instructions provided – resulting in cupcakes which were, quite frankly, to die for.
If your pancakes are a little less than perfect a superb video tutorial is available on how to make pancakes just perfect. Like the other video recipes and tutorials it is easy to follow and provides some superb tips on how to produce the perfect pancakes. Likewise, in addition to several others baking tutorials, there is a great tutorial on how to make pizza dough . Unlike many websites out there these tutorials assume no prior knowledge which is really useful for the beginner to baking. Enjoy and check out Baking Mad.

150 grams Butter
150 grams Golden Caster Sugar (Billington’s)
3 Free Range Eggs (Happy Eggs) beaten
150 grams Self Raising Flour (Allinson Nature Friendly)
0.50 tsp Baking Powder
Pure Vanilla Extract Blend (Nielsen-Massey) a few drops
225 grams ready-to-roll blue fondant (icing)
4 tbsp Apricot Jam
1 tbsp Hot Water
White, Green & Blue Icing Decorating Pens
