When I was a child these pies generally were topped with fluffy mashed potato and decorated with grated cheese, toasted breadcrumbs (for a lovely crunch and golden colour) and slices of beef tomatoes. A nice twist to this traditional version is to replace the mashed potato with a lovely potato pastry - this pie was a real success yesterday! As we were entertaining we opted to decorate … [Read more...]

But in this case, Cullen Skink, is made from Smoke Haddock. I sampled this delightful soup in Cullen for the first time, it was a small fish & chip shop, famous in the local area for … [Read more...]

Thai Fishcakes

I love fishcakes, of all kinds (well, excluding those frozen cardboard tasteing varieties you purchase from the supermarket). I have not as yet had chance to make any at home, on account of the fact they are generally something I have as a starter when I go out for a meal. I recently fell upon the following video which has a wonderful recipe for Thai Fishcakes which I would wholeheartedly recommend! … [Read more...]

Gut Week: Thai Steamed Salmon

Here the salmon is marinated in coriander, ginger, mint, lime juice and chillies. Serve with brown basmati rice … [Read more...]

Swordfish

I´d like to thank the administrator of Recipe Blog for accepting my application to post here! I am sure it will be a great experience. I, like "the foodie", am not a chef, but I do love food and cooking. Over the course of the next few weeks I would like to start by posting some of my old favourites, which have previously been posted on my personal blog - Mizmoe. I love swordfish, but the only way I have ever eaten it was baked and served with plain boiled potatoes, salad or vegetables on … [Read more...]
